Mariner Newsletter November 2025
Volume 95, Issue 11
Dear Lakeside Members,
There’s a lot to like about Fall: the colors in the leaves, the cool nights sleeping with the windows open and the AC off, football season (yes, there are other good teams) and the anticipation of upcoming holidays. But Fall does have its downside: football season (for Browns fans), shorter evening and later morning light, falling leaves and boats being removed from the water until next Spring. That’s particularly tough this year as the weather has been so nice.
Hopefully, you’ve scheduled haul out and if not, the last day of haul out is October 31st please remember to do so soon. Also, please remember to take all hoses, cords and other miscellaneous items off the docks as well once your boat is out of the slip. This upcoming Tuesday, October 21st, will be the General Membership Meeting and election of officers and trustees whose term will begin with the Change of Watch dinner on November 8th.
Other upcoming events include Adult Halloween Party, October 25th; Kid’s Halloween Party, the return of Prime Rib Night and Queen of Hearts on Thursday, November 6th; Ohio State v. Michigan game with game time food specials on November 29th; Children’s Holiday Party, December 7th and the Member Appreciation Party on Thursday, December 11th after which the Club will be closed until Tuesday, January 14th.
We did have a successful Chili Cookoff on October 4th. While the People’s Choice award went to Chris Hogle, the official winner as chosen by the judges
went to Frank Decaro. Congratulations to both chefs and thanks to everyone for participating. The Clambake a week later was also a tremendous success which I hated to miss due to business commitments. I’ll have to do a better job with my schedule in the future.
My thanks to everyone for supporting the Club all season. If you have any thoughts about things that we should consider addressing during the shutdown, please let me or Larry know. Finally, welcome to Jason and Nancy Martin and Habby Khalil our latest additions to the Lakeside Family.
