Since 1930, Lakeside Yacht Club has brought boaters and friends together on Cleveland’s Lake Erie shore. Our protected marina serves as a home port, and the clubhouse offers something just as valuable: a warm welcome. So whether you are a power boater or a sailor, LYC has active member groups for both.  Sailing races, destination cruises, and activities suit both types of boaters.

Cleveland’s seafaring heritage is inseparable from Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga River. Founded at the river’s mouth, the settlement quickly became a key port. The first steamboat to reach its harbor, Walk-in-the-Water, arrived in 1818, and the completion of the Ohio & Erie Canal in the 1830s linked the lake to the Ohio River, turning Cleveland into a major transshipment center for goods moving east and west.
