Labor Day Weekend Air Show Events: Sept 5, 6 & 7

The road will close at 3 pm and reopen after all the Airshow traffic leaves. This is usually around 6 pm.

The Harbor is closed from 10 am-4 pm, according to what they currently say, but usually they let people in and out as long as there are no military flights in the Air. Usually, from 1 pm to 4 pm, the military flights fly.

Labor Day Weekend Car Parking Rules:

We highly suggest guests use Uber or LYFT

Only one car per member may be parked at LYC and must have an LYC-assigned car sticker on their windshield. If you don't have your car sticker, we will write down your license plate. The other cars of members and guests shall be parked at Sailing Inc. This includes the Southwest lot.

Shuttle service will run from 8 am-3 pm & 6- 9 pm on Saturday & Sunday.

Shuttle service will run from 8 am-3 pm & 6- 8 pm on Monday.

Pool Rules:

Labor Day Weekend, the pool area will be for members and immediate family members, which are defined as children under the age of twenty-two who reside with the member. No guests at the pool.

No glass or breakable items may be brought to the pool. No coolers or other containers at the pool.

All other pool rules remain in effect, including that only food or beverage provided by LYC may be brought to the pool area.

Please remind your guests of the Shuttle hours!

As of 6 pm Friday evening, we noticed many unauthorized cars in the parking lot. These cars need to be out by 7am Saturday morning. Reminder: one car only per member. We have a security guard this evening checking and registering all vehicles.

ADDITIONALLY, WE HAVE RECEIVED MANY COMPLAINTS AND WITNESSED THE MEMBERS RESERVING GENERAL CLUB SPACE FOR PRIVATE USE. AS A REMINDER, THIS IS PROHIBITED. If you have items reserving common space, please remove them this evening. We have a large membership, so let's use the common grounds respectfully.

Friday September 4th from 6-9pm will be the Wine Pull

WINE PULL - we need bottles of wine valued at a minimum of $15.00.

Starting Friday September 4th through Sunday September 6th will be the Silent Auction.

SILENT AUCTION - can you provide-

- Gift Certificates to Restaurants, Spas, Garden Centers, or Florists

If you would like to store your boat at LYC, please call 216-432-3270. Storage is based on Seniority and last year storage. If you stored your boat here last year, we already have you on the list. Please contact us if you are not storing here this year. If you are interested in storage and didn't store here last year, please respond by August 31st, and we will let you know if we have space available by September 10th.

Listed below are some friendly reminders to make sure everything runs smoothly.

We will be lifting the boats out Wednesday through Sunday, 9-5 pm

Please pump out your boat and fuel up prior to lifting out.

Please join us for socialization, book discussions, and fun! LYC Book Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. except for September. All are welcome. You are encouraged to read the book selection for the month, but you can always join us to hear what others say. Those discussions may pique your interest in reading the book.

Hello Lakeside Friends!

Even though Old Man Winter keeps “storming back into the room” like someone who’s lost an argument, yelling “And another thing…”, I do believe he’s running out of steam and will soon give way to better weather and another boating season. In fact, Lift-In begins Saturday, April 4th! If you haven’t signed up, please do so soon.

We’ve been busy during shutdown and the off-season. In addition to the usual deep cleaning and maintenance items we always attend to several additional projects have been undertaken. The interior Men’s Room has been remodeled; the exterior restrooms have be spruced up and the stairs and decking of the gas house have been replaced as well as the decking at the diesel dock. While not completed as promised by the contractor, the South Dock replacement is moving along. I want to thank Vice Commodore Mike Cunningham, Fleet Captain Greg Vitarrdi and Membership Chairman Dan Lydey for the support and dedication in seeing this project through and dealing with contractor delays and excuses.

Speaking of delays and excuses, the latest intel we have of the infamous Metroparks Bike Path is that our section of it should be completed in June. Given how this project has progressed to date, I’ll believe it when I see it. However, I do know that the Three Amigos of South Dock, mentioned previously in addition to Rear Commodore Adam Ressler, have been doing everything in their power to bring this to a speedy conclusion so we may enjoy our Club as we would like. Thanks, fellas! In the meantime, please be aware that North Marginal is closed from Aviation High School to Burke. Access to the Club is available only from 55th Street.

If you haven’t already had a chance to, stop by the Club and introduce yourself to Brett Williams, our Front of the House Manager, who was hired in February. Also, please don’t be shy about comments and suggestions regarding our menu, as we will be transitioning out of our Winter menu shortly.

It feels great to be writing about a new season. Winter was particularly harsh this year, with 97% of the lake freezing after having not frozen significantly for several years. We deserve a great season with warm temperatures, fair winds, and smooth boating. Abby and I look forward to seeing you all, including our new members, thanks to Membership Chair Dan Lydey.
